The Savannah Book Festival (SBF) announces George Dawes Green to replace Jack Carr at the Savannah Book Festival Opening Address at 6:30 on Thursday, February 16, 2023. Tickets purchased for the Jack Carr Opening address will be honored at the Savannah Box Office.
George Dawes Green, the author of The Kingdoms of Savannah, founder of “The Moth” and “Unchained” nonprofit storytelling organizations, is an internationally celebrated author. His first novel, The Caveman’s Valentine, won the Edgar Award and became a motion picture starring Samuel L. Jackson. The Juror was an international bestseller in more than twenty languages and was the basis for the movie starring Demi Moore and Alec Baldwin. Ravens was chosen as one of the best books of 2009 by the Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, the Daily Mail of London, and many other publications. Green grew up in Savannah, Georgia and now lives in Brooklyn, New York.
SBF presents best-selling and emerging authors at a four-day weekend event featuring dozens of authors. Festival Saturday, February 18th, which is free and open to the public from 9 am to 5:30 pm, showcases over 40 authors in locations in and around downtown Savannah.
