Hinesville’s Unemployment Rate Drops in April

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Hinesville recorded an unemployment rate of 3.5% in April, down seven-tenths over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.7%.
“This April, unemployment rates dropped across every region of Georgia,” said Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “When we connect Georgians with meaningful work, we're putting food on tables, creating stability for individuals and families, and building an economy where our children can see their future—right here at home. This is how we grow a stronger Georgia—one job, one family, one community at a time.”
The labor force in Hinesville decreased by 144 and ended the month at 31,096. That number decreased by 86 compared to April 2024.
Hinesville finished the month with 30,020 employed residents. That number increased by 81 from the previous month and decreased by 14 from the same time a year ago.
Hinesville ended April with 22,000 jobs. That number was down by 100 from the previous month and up by 100 from the same time last year.
In April, initial unemployment claims increased by 42 from the previous month and down by 60 from the same month a year ago, totaling 142,
