Savannah’s Unemployment Rate Drops in April

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Savannah recorded an unemployment rate of 2.6% in April, down six-tenths over the month. A year ago, the rate was 2.5%.

“This April, unemployment rates dropped across every region of Georgia,” said Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “When we connect Georgians with meaningful work, we're putting food on tables, creating stability for individuals and families, and building an economy where our children can see their future—right here at home. This is how we grow a stronger Georgia—one job, one family, one community at a time.”

The labor force in Savannah decreased by 554 from the previous month and ended April at 208,318. That number decreased by 2,418 from April 2024.

Savannah finished the month with 202,977 employed residents. That number increased by 818 from the previous month and decreased by 2,441 from the same time last year.

Savannah ended April with 207,100 jobs. Jobs increased by 100 from the previous month and fell by 1,200 from the same time last year.

In April, initial unemployment claims increased by 72 from the previous month and decreased by 14 from the same month a year ago, totaling 558.
