Walmart Completes Remodel of Savannah Neighborhood Market on Abercorn
Wednesday, August 13th, 2025
Walmart today announces the completion of a remodel of one of its locations in Savannah, Georgia. Located at 10530 Abercorn St., the 42,311-square-foot Neighborhood Market underwent a 15-week transformation that added significant updates and enhancements. Walmart recently held a re-grand opening ceremony on Friday, August 8, to celebrate the launch of the remodeled store.
This remodel has introduced a range of enhancements to Store #4530, enhancing the overall shopping experience for customers. Highlights include:
-
A remodeled pharmacy area, with an updated layout and a brighter overall appearance to better serve customers’ healthcare needs.
-
Expanded aisles and a reconfigured product category layout to provide more space and convenience for shoppers.
-
An enlarged online-pickup staging area, relocated to the front of the store, and an expanded pickup parking area to support increased demand for online grocery services.
Walmart Neighborhood Markets are significantly smaller than a traditional Walmart Supercenter but still carry a wide array of products. Shoppers can find fresh produce, meat and dairy products, bakery and deli items, as well as pantry staples. They also offer household goods, health and beauty products, pet supplies, and have an in-store pharmacy. These stores provide the convenience of a local grocery store with the product variety and competitive pricing that Walmart is known for.
A staple of newly renovated Walmart locations, the store now features a custom mural by Calder Robinson, a Georgia-based illustrator and designer. The mural "Celebration of Savannah" captures the city’s spirit, joy and timeless magic. It celebrates Savannah as a place where everyday life feels like a celebration, from lively backyard barbecues to the shops, dining and entertainment along River Street. It also features the Port of Savannah, which is one of the fastest-growing container ports in the U.S.
This mural is part of Walmart's Community Mural Program, one of the largest public-facing art installations celebrating communities across America. Walmart's Community Mural Program is an important part of each store transformation and furthers Walmart's commitment to the local community.
In addition, Walmart demonstrated its commitment to the community by donating $1,000 community grants to the Ferst Readers of Savannah and Park Place Outreach, both local organizations chosen by its associates.
Other stores undergoing remodels in Savannah include locations at 1955 East Montgomery St. and 160 Pooler Parkway in Pooler, Ga. Earlier this summer, the Supercenter location at 14030 Abercorn St. completed its RGO. This year, Walmart has set a goal to remodel more than 650 stores across the U.S., including 20 in Georgia. Before 2025, Walmart invested more than $1.1 billion to upgrade stores throughout Georgia in the past five years. With 209 retail units and 13 supply chain facilities, Walmart employs over 65,000 associates in the Peach State.
