Cartersville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Marc Feuerbach has been named Superintendent of the Year by the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) and Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA). Dr. Feuerbach, who received the award on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the GSBA annual conference held in Atlanta, has been leading Cartersville City Schools (CCS) as superintendent since 2018.
During his tenure, Dr. Feuerbach has cultivated and maintained a consistent focus on the school district’s ability to strengthen and expand its influence and effectiveness through embracing innovation, building trust, and providing hope. Kelley Dial, Cartersville School Board president, appreciates his thoughtful, measured leadership.
Dial said, “Dr. Feuerbach has been a transformational leader for Cartersville City Schools. He approaches every decision with intention, always seeking the ‘why’ behind the work, and the result is a district that is stronger, smarter, and more student-centered. We are incredibly proud of him and believe this recognition is well-earned.”
Cartersville City Schools has attained important gains in student achievement, the highest graduation rate in the district’s history, and developed structures and procedures improving student and staff support measures under Dr. Feuerbach’s leadership. Additionally, the district has developed effective partnerships that strengthen our community and provide access to vital supports like advanced job training and food security.
Out of the state’s 180 superintendents of public school districts, Dr. Feuerbach will represent Georgia at the 2026 National Superintendent of the Year Conference held at the American Association of School Administrators conference in Nashville, Tennessee in February.
Dr. Feuerbach has served in a variety of roles during his 23 years in education including special education teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He has also received the President’s Award from GSSA in 2022 and the Impact Award from the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber in 2019.
