City to Celebrate Restoration of Forsyth Park Fountain

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, December 15th, 2025

On Thursday, Dec. 19, the City of Savannah will host a festive community celebration to mark the long-awaited reactivation of the historic Forsyth Park Fountain—one of Savannah’s most iconic and cherished landmarks.

Mayor Van R. Johnson II, members of Savannah City Council, and City Manager Jay Melder will join Team Savannah and community members at the fountain for a brief program honoring its historic importance, its role as a gathering place for generations, and the City’s commitment to preserving this beloved symbol of Savannah.
But the heart of the event is the celebration itself. Once the fountain is officially brought back to life, families, neighbors, and visitors are invited to gather in front of the beautifully restored, fully operating fountain for a morning filled with holiday cheer.
The celebration will include:
  • Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus in front of the fountain

  • Light refreshments

  • Holiday activities for all ages

  • Commemorative keepsakes to mark this special moment for Savannah

Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to support the Toys for Tots drive, helping share the spirit of giving across our community.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos from 10:00–11:30 a.m., and all attendees are invited to enjoy the restored fountain’s return as a vibrant centerpiece of Savannah’s beloved Forsyth Park.
