Elizabeth on 37th Brings Local Flavors to Meals on Wheels
Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025
December 1, 2025 — Senior Citizens Inc. (SCI), the local nonprofit dedicated to helping people age successfully, is partnering with one of Savannah’s most beloved restaurants, Elizabeth on 37th and its acclaimed Executive Chef Kelly Yambor to bring signature dishes—and a touch of sweetness—to the tables of homebound older adults served through Meals on Wheels.
This quarter, Meals on Wheels clients will enjoy Red Rice and Five-Cheese Macaroni and Cheese, two favorites from Elizabeth on 37th that reflect the restaurant’s love of authentic Lowcountry cuisine. To complete the meal, Pastry Chef Carrie Van Gorder has contributed a special dessert: Peach and Blueberry cobbler - adding a comforting finish that showcases the warmth and creativity of Savannah’s culinary community.
“Meals on Wheels is more than a meal—it’s a connection,” said Patti Lyons, President of Senior Citizens Inc. “By bringing Savannah’s celebrated chefs into our kitchen, we’re not only delivering nourishment, but also a taste of the community that cares so deeply for our older adults.”
Chef Kelly Yambor, recognized by the James Beard Foundation for her culinary excellence, said she was honored to contribute to such a meaningful cause. “Food brings people together,” Tambor said. “To know that something I serve in my restaurant can bring comfort and joy to someone at home—that’s what truly matters.”
As part of SCI’s 65th Anniversary celebration, Meals on Wheels has been partnering with some of Savannah’s most talented chefs to help deliver its mission of providing delicious and nutritious meals along with daily wellness checks to homebound older adults. Each quarter, a participating chef has contributed a recipe—or in this case, an entire menu—that combines nourishment, comfort, and the distinctive flavor of Savannah’s rich culinary tradition.
