AT&T adds a new cell site to expand 5G coverage and capacity in Rincon, helping residents, businesses and public safety on FirstNet® get more from their mobile devices.
A new site in Rincon boosts coverage west of Rincon and south of Springfield along Little McCall Road.
“From healthcare to education, access to reliable high-speed internet strengthens the connectivity that enhances the quality of life of each of our neighbors across the state,” said Georgia Speaker of the House Jon Burns. “AT&T’s continued investment in Georgia’s network infrastructure, including this new wireless infrastructure in Rincon, opens the door to countless new opportunities for the citizens of Effingham County by ensuring our families, businesses and communities stay connected.”
AT&T 5G brings fast, reliable and highly secure connectivity to more than 315 million people in over 26,900 cities and towns nationwide, including Rincon. This helps Georgia residents and businesses get the best possible experience over the AT&T network wherever they live, work and play.
These enhancements also bring Band 14 spectrum to the area. Band 14 is high-quality spectrum dedicated to FirstNet®—the only nationwide communications network built with and for public safety. In emergencies, this band – or lane - can be cleared and locked exclusively for FirstNet subscribers. When not in use by FirstNet subscribers, AT&T customers can enjoy Band 14’s added coverage and capacity.
Created by the U.S. Congress after 9/11 and built by AT&T in public-private partnership with the FirstNet Authority, FirstNet is the only nationwide communications platform purpose-built for public safety.
From 2020 to 2024, AT&T invested more than $16.9 billion in our wireless and wireline networks in Georgia to boost reliability, coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and businesses.
“At AT&T, we know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. We are proud to invest in Effingham County with the wireless infrastructure necessary to connect in today’s digital world,” said Gary Sanchez, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “With expanded access to AT&T 5G, our customers will be able to experience better network connectivity that will help with virtual learning, business growth and connecting with one another.”
