Telfair Museums Announces Holiday tree Lighting and Pop-up Shop
Friday, December 5th, 2025
Telfair Museums announces its beloved annual Tree Lighting Celebration to kick off the holiday season on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 5:30–7 p.m. at the Jepson Center (207 W. York St. Savannah, GA). This festive tradition brings neighbors and families together for an evening of joy, creativity, and community spirit in the Richard & Judy Eckburg Atrium.
Guests will enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and cookies courtesy of Urban Café, Telfair Museums new restaurant partner, along with live holiday music by harpist Kristin King of the New Arts Ensemble. The celebration also features hands-on arts and crafts led by members of Telfair’s Teen Arts Council, and of course, a special visit from Santa. Attendees are encouraged to stop by the Museum Shop to browse a selection of unique holiday gifts.
“The tree lighting is one of our favorite traditions because it brings people of all ages together to celebrate the season in a joyful, art-filled space,” said Executive Director Dr. David A. Brenneman. “We’re thrilled to welcome the community into the Jepson Center for an evening that reflects the warmth, creativity, and togetherness that define the holidays in Savannah.”
The beautifully decorated tree will remain on view through New Year’s Day, offering a festive centerpiece for holiday visits to the museum. This event is free and open to everyone.
In addition to the tree lighting, Telfair Museums invites guests to support local makers at the annual Holiday Pop-Up Shop, held in Gallery 912 on Dec. 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local artists and craftspeople will be on site to showcase their work, including handcrafted gifts, artwork, and artisan goods. Visitors can also explore Telfair’s full line of branded merchandise, including authentic Bird Girl reproductions and limited-edition Art of the Character tote bags—perfect for holiday gifting.
