The City of Savannah is honored to receive an in-kind donation of 10 laptops from Comcast in support of the City’s Office of Neighborhood Safety & Engagement (ONSE) Path Forward Program and its graduates.

The laptops will support workforce readiness, educational advancement, and digital opportunities for program participants. The announcement was made this week during the bridging ceremony for the ONSE 2026 Path Forward cohort. The ceremony took place at Savannah’s MLK Jr. Civic Center in the presence of cohorts’ family members, community organizations, stakeholders, and business leaders.

“We are Savannah Proud of these 10 remarkable young adults who made a commitment to themselves. Their hard work and determination represent exactly what Path Forward is all about,” said Mayor Van R. Johnson, II. “That is why I am especially grateful for partners like Comcast. Their generous act ensures that each of our graduates leaves not only with new skills, greater confidence, and a sense of accomplishment but also a valuable tool to support their continued education and pursue opportunities that might otherwise have been beyond their reach.”

Path Forward participants, statistically high-risk youth and young adults aged 17-20, entered the year-long initiative, beginning with a paid, 8-week intensive workforce development program. During the summer portion of the course, the cohort completed life skills training, soft skills development, conflict resolution training, career exploration with leading industries in the Savannah area, and educational exploration with higher education institutions in Savannah. Wednesday’s event celebrated the completion of the initial phase.

“The laptops our participants receive from Comcast will help them reach their professional and educational goals as part of their success plans long after today’s ceremony,” said Jimmie Johnson, Senior Director of the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement. “We know this investment will support their continued success and empower them to live out their cohort motto: Top Soldiers Never Fail.”

Following the eight weeks, participants will continue to receive mentorship and case management from ONSE as they complete their 10-month success plans.

The laptop donation was a surprise to the participants and will officially be presented Friday, July 24, 2026, in personalized laptop bags.
