Last week, Georgia Power began a key grid enhancement project in the Tremont Park and Cloverdale neighborhoods to improve power reliability and resilience. The project includes upgrading poles and lines serving about 1,300 customers.
The project will replace existing poles with a mix of wood, modular composite, and self-supporting concrete to better withstand extreme weather. New power lines will also be installed to modernize service, with some rerouted for easier future maintenance.
Temporary traffic impacts may occur during construction along parts of ACL Boulevard, Mills B. Lane, Tremont Road, Ogeechee Road, Cynthia Street, Stiles Avenue, nearby side streets, and the Cloverdale subdivision. Georgia Power crews will work along roads and in the right-of-way and will aim to minimize disruptions. Drivers are urged to use caution in these areas.
Customers in the affected area will be notified in advance of the project. Once work is completed, crews will restore the area to its original condition. If any planned power outages are required to complete the work safely, customers will be given advance notification.
Georgia Power remains committed to delivering reliable, affordable energy for customers in Savannah every day. All along the Georgia coast, Georgia Power continues to strengthen, expand, and reinforce the electrical grid infrastructure that delivers energy every day to customers with projects currently underway and planned for the future.
