Metro Hinesville Reports 4.0% Unemployment Rate for June

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the two-county Hinesville Metropolitan Statistical Area recorded an unemployment rate of 4.0% in June, up four-tenths of a percentage point over the month. A year ago, the rate was 4.1%.
“June brings the temporary seasonal changes we see every year as schools let out for the summer, but as Georgia’s workforce continues to grow, our year-over-year trends remain stable,” said Georgia Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “Short-term fluctuations are normal in a resilient economy, and the bigger picture is clear: Georgia remains a state where opportunity is within reach, hard work is rewarded, and every Georgian has the chance to build a better life.”
The labor force in Hinesville decreased by 109 over the month and ended at 31,710. That number increased by 239 compared to the same time last year.
Hinesville finished June with 30,426 employed residents, down 239 over the month and up 238 from June 2025.
Hinesville ended June with 21,700 jobs. That number decreased by 200 over the month and 200 over the year.
In June, initial unemployment claims decreased by four over the previous month and eight from the same month a year ago, totaling 106.
