Union Mission will receive an estimated 38,321 pounds of shelf-stable food from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, as part of an effort to help address food insecurity. The delivery, scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Union Mission, 120 Fahm Street in Savannah, will include essential pantry items such as peanut butter, canned stew, macaroni, rice, applesauce, flour and other shelf-stable goods for Union Mission clients across several programs, including the new Emmaus House Resource Center, where more than 200 individuals visit daily.

“This generous donation comes at a critical time for many of our neighbors who are facing increased pressure from the rising cost of food and basic needs,” said Michael Traynor, President & CEO of Union Mission. “We are grateful to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for helping strengthen the network of organizations working every day to ensure individuals and families across our area have access to nutritious food and compassionate support.”

The donation is part of the Church’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to care for people in need and support community-based organizations that provide immediate relief and long-term stability. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has joined a nationwide food assistance effort connected to America250’s “America Gives” initiative, with truckloads of food being delivered to communities across the country.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to support Union Mission and its important work serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in the Savannah community,” said Mitch Brannen, a local leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “Caring for our neighbors is central to our faith, and we hope this food donation will provide comfort, nourishment and encouragement to those who need it most.”
