Old Savannah City Mission Urgently Seeking Donations to Beat the Heat

Savannah’s summer heat and humidity can be more than uncomfortable. During prolonged stretches of high temperatures, being outside without adequate water and a cool place to recover can become life-threatening, especially for people experiencing homelessness.

The Mission opens a cooling center when temperatures are forecast to climb above 90 degrees. Guests are invited into the Mission’s air-conditioned chapel to cool down, and staff keep an eye out for signs of heat illness.
