On Saturday, October 17, 60 people will pedal from Savannah to Augusta to raise money for cancer. Cyclists from around the region will participate in the 14^th annual Patrick’s Ride. Riders will depart from the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah at 6 a.m. and arrive at the Riverwalk in Augusta around 6 p.m. Also known as the “Harvest of Hope Double Metric Century,” this 140-mile bicycle ride raises money for adults and children with cancer at the ACI and The Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center.  Funds raised support cancer services and the annual Harvest of Hope retreat for people with cancer and their families. Since its inception, Patrick’s Ride has raised more than $461,000, benefited more than 1,400 retreat participants, assisted in creating a family-friendly outpatient children’s cancer waiting room, provided program support for a dedicated children’s cancer nurse navigator and counseling services, and provided patient assistance for families such as fuel cards and meal assistance.

 The ride was started by Patrick Booton, a cancer survivor, athlete, and retired medical physicist who used to work at the ACI.
