Tanger Outlets and Memorial Health “Pinking of the Fountain”

5.30 p.m., Thursday October 1, 200 Tanger Outlet Blvd, Pooler

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tanger Outlets and Memorial Health will host a "pinking" of the fountains in the center of the Tanger Outlets shopping complex. Tanger Outlets will sell Powerful Pink Cards for $5. The card gives you a 25-percent discount off a single item at participating Tanger Outlets stores. You can use the card as many times as you'd like throughout the month of October. Ninety-five percent of the proceeds from the sale of the cards will be used locally for breast cancer services at the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center. The remaining five percent goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Powerful Pink Cards will be sold in the Medical Center Pharmacy on the campus of Memorial University Medical Center starting October 1. They are also available at Tanger Outlets shopper services and in participating stores.

The One Hundred's 20th Annual Bear Gala

This annual fundraiser for The Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center includes an elegant sit-down dinner, music, a live auction, and the ever-popular Bear Gala collectible Teddy Bears. Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors

6:30 p.m., Tuesdays, and 12:45 p.m., Thursdays, FitnessOne, 3rd floor of the Memorial Outpatient & Wellness Center, Memorial University Medical Center

These weekly yoga classes are free for cancer survivors and those in treatment. The classes help with flexibility and balance while also providing relaxation. The instructor is Yoga Alliance registered with more than 200 hours of training, including specialized yoga training for cancer survivors at OM Yoga in New York. Mental Health Awareness Movie Night

6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 15, Medical Education Auditorium (across from Georgia Eye) on the campus of Memorial University Medical Center

The public is invited to a movie night hosted by the Center for Behavioral Medicine at Memorial University Medical Center. We’ll watch the movie “A Beautiful Mind,” which one four Academy Awards, including best picture. The movies tells the true story of John Nash, a gifted mathematician who developed schizophrenia. 14th Annual Patrick’s Ride

6 a.m., Saturday, October 17, Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center

Sixty cyclists will pedal from Savannah to Augusta to raise money for cancer programs in the 14th annual Patrick’s Ride. Riders will depart from the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah at 6 a.m. and arrive at the Riverwalk in Augusta around 6 p.m. Also known as the “Harvest of Hope Double Metric Century,” this 140-mile bicycle ride raises money for adults and children with cancer at the ACI. BBQ, Brews, and Bluegrass

This outdoor festival features live music and family fun. More than 700 adults and children attended last year’s event. Basic Breastfeeding Class

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, Memorial University Medical Center

This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include information on preparing to breastfeed, basic breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work are also covered. Your support person is encouraged to attend.
