Chatham Area Transit Announces Try Transit Week

Chatham Area Transit officials announce that they will be observing “Try Transit Week” from October 26th – 30th, 2015. “Try Transit Week” calls upon all citizens to join in a nationwide effort to promote transit’s benefits and encourage new riders to TRY TRANSIT! During that week, Chatham Area Transit will sponsor the following activities:

  • Monday, October 26th – Active Military & Veterans Day. Active duty and retired servicemen/women will ride buses with military identification.

  • Tuesday, October 27th - Senior/Disabled Citizens’ Appreciation Day. Citizens, 62 years and older along with members of the disabled community, will ride the bus and be transported via para-transit free.

  • Wednesday, October 28th – Passenger Appreciation Day. Fixed route passengers will be allowed to ride the bus fare free during this day.

  • Thursday, October 29thGovernment Employees’ Appreciation Day. All current government employees (local, state and federal) will be able to ride public transportation free on that day with their employee identification.

  • Friday, October 30thStudents’ Appreciation Day. All school children, grades K – 12, will be allowed to ride the bus free while they are in uniform. College students will ride free with a current and valid college identification card.

The new fare structure will also become effective on Monday, October 26, 2015. Seek assistance from staff that will be stationed at the Transit Center and the Oglethorpe Mall locations.
